Apprentices are young people who want to learn and to make
a difference to your business. They are enthusiastic about
training and about doing their best. They are the very best
kind of employees – those that want to be there and
want to succeed.
Your business will benefit from the ideas that they bring,
and from the training they will receive. You’ll also
have the satisfaction of knowing that you and your business
are making a difference to a young persons life, and that
you are helping to build the workforce of the future.
Apprentices come to work for at least 4 days each week, often
more, where they’ll get on the job training and support
from you and your staff. They also attend classes with their
training provider and are supported to achieve an NVQ, Key
Skills certificates and in many cases, Technical Certificates
such as City & Guilds.
In most cases the training will be free to both your business
and your apprentice, depending on the age of the young person.
As the employer you will be responsible for the wage of the
Apprentice. Connexions can advise the ‘going rate’
for your vacancy, the minimum of which is £80 per week.
There are around 25 providers of Apprenticeship training in
Northamptonshire and most specialise in specific disciplines.
