How Connexions PAs work with schools, academies,
pupil referral units and colleges
All institutions have a Lead Personal Adviser, who is responsible
for:
• Negotiating and monitoring the annual Partnership
Agreement
• Acting as the main link between the institution and
the local Connexions delivery team
• Supporting the annual audit of the Connexions Library,
as part of the CLI process
In addition to the Lead Personal Adviser, there may be one
or more other PAs linked to the institution, supporting the
delivery of services to learners. PAs work with young people
in education in the following ways:
• Regular, advertised drop-ins – where learners
can see the PA without an appointment and get brief assistance
with their queries
• Face-to-face appointments – which learners book
in advance
• Assemblies
• Group work
• Job Seeker workshops
• Parents’ events
• Year 9 Transition Planning and Section 140 in year
11
Although the PA’s main function is to work with learners,
they may be able to support other work in the school. For
example, advising on resources for use with learners, tutor
training or curriculum development. These activities must
be negotiated as part of the Partnership Agreement.
(Young people not in education can see PAs at their local
Connexions centre.)
