 Career Mark

Career Mark Flyer

Career Mark is a quality award and development framework for all learning providers to show good practice and provision in Careers Education, Information, Advice and Guidance (CEIAG) for young people. The standards are written by a team of careers education specialists from Careers Consortium (East Midlands) Limited, representing Northamptonshire, Leicestershire, Lincolnshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire and have been reviewed and revised in line with national educational developments.

The latest revision, Career Mark 5, supports learning providers with:-

  • Every Child Matters
  • Ofsted Self Evaluation
  • National IAG standards
  • Matrix requirements

Click onto the following links to read about the benefits of using the framework, to look at the standards and to see the range of support available. If you would like further information then please get in touch with the Connexions Learning Provider Adviser for your area.

Management (M) - ensures that the planning and management systems for CEIAG are coherent and effective.

Advice and Guidance (A & G) - ensures access to a planned programme of advice, guidance and support.

Information (I) - ensures access to appropriate and relevant information and resources and the development of information handling skills.

Curriculum (C) - ensures that the careers curriculum is well balanced and supports young people's personal development.

Outcomes (O) - evaluates the effectiveness of the CEIAG provision and whether young people have the knowledge, skills and attitudes to be competent career planners.

It is preferable to work on the standards as a whole and produce a portfolio of evidence but they can be worked on in modules over a two year period. Look at the guidance materials and contact your Learning Provider Adviser for additional information.

For learning providers currently holding Career Mark IV, if your revalidation date is due in 2008, you may still use these standards or choose to revalidate using the new standards - please speak to your Career Mark Adviser for further support.
